iVolunteer in Nepal - the Himalayan Kingdom known as the land of the Mount Everest and the birth place of Lord Buddha. Located on the southern slopes of the Himalayan Mountains, it is as ethically diverse as its terrain of fertile plains, broad valleys and the highest mountain peaks in the world. It is a land of sublime scenery, time-worn temples and some of the best hiking trails on the earth. It is rich in scenic splendor and cultural treasures and offers satisfaction to the body, mind and soul. The country is situated in South Asia, bordered on north by China and on the south, west and east by India. Nepal is a mountainous country with the Himalayan belt in the north, the hilly region and fertile valleys in the middle and the narrow strip of plain Terai in the south, all running parallel to each other from east to west. It is generally cold in the mountainous region, wild weather in the hills and warm in the plains.
