Nepal is an enchanting land of splendid beauty, blessed with very friendly and hospitable people. It’s cities, specially capital Kathmandu abound with innocent children with cherubic faces, living in extreme poverty. So much is missing from their lives – food, security, health, love, education, four walls to call their own, where they can play and dream of better days and happier times.

Some organizations have come forward to provide a roof above the heads of these orphans and street children in Nepal. They run orphanages, where they try to create a sense of belonging and secure spaces where dreaming is possible. They try to make the dreams come true. Simple dreams of warmth at night, of a hot cooked meal, of someone to dress a wound and hold a hand when it hurts and above all a future, for the future is what children represent.

Our ‘Work for Orphans’ program for volunteers is aimed at helping these organizations do more for these disadvantaged children. You can render invaluable help by doing volunteer work at an orphanage in Nepal, giving them love and affection, teaching them basic conversational English, helping them in their school subjects, guiding them about personal hygiene and sanitation, taking them out on small excursions and engaging them in extra – curricular activities.

It would be an unforgettable and soul enriching experience for you which may compel you to return again and again to these orphans.

Your Role in the Program:

Once you get over the initial culture shock of coming and working in Nepal, you will realize that helping the orphans in an orphanage will give you immense satisfaction and you will view life with a different perspective. A typical volunteer helping in an orphanage would help the children with their day to day activities such as: doing homework, making notes, playing with children, helping staff organize the orphanage, providing mental and physiological support, exchanging cultural views, teach them about health and hygiene.

Skills and Educational Requirements.

There is no educational requirement for this project; anyone with a heart to help is welcome on this project! However proficiency in English is required. People should be patient, committed and willing to learn.

Project Location.

The project is located in Kathmandu the capital of Nepal.

Language & Orientation Week in Kathmandu.

You have the option to start your volunteering with a week long  language & culture orientation week in Nepal  The week aims to provide important Language instructions, safety tips, and cultural knowledge before volunteers start their work. Volunteers would also be give a 2 day tour around Kathmandu to see the beautiful sights it has to offer.
