iVolunteer Nepal provides the opportunity to volunteer and teaching nglish to Buddhist Monks in Kathmandu, Nepal. The program is availabe to join for 4 - 12 weeks in duration. You will teach English to both junior and senior monks, as well as teachers, for around two to three hours per day and 5 to 6 days a week.
Volunteers are more than welcome to pass on any of their knowledge about mathematics, the sciences, medicine, computing, etc. too. Most of the monks have solely been educated in Buddhist subjects and greatly appreciated any skills that will enable them to manage the monastery, its business and everyday life in an increasingly modernised world entirely on their own.
Program Informatiom
Your Role in the Program:
As a volunteer in Teaching English to Buddhist Monks Program, you will provide basic conversational English instruction to Tibetan and Nepali children. Volunteers also organize games, paintings, drawings, and other creative activities. As a unique facet of this placement, volunteers will witness and participate in traditional Buddhist rituals when happening in the monastery.
Skills and Educational Requirements.
There is no educational requirement for this project; anyone with a heart to help is welcome on this project! However proficiency in English is required. People should be patient,
committed and willing to 
learn.
Project Location.
The project is located in Kathmandu the capital of Nepal.
Language & Orientation Week in Kathmandu.
You have the option to start your volunteering with a week long language & culture orientation week in Nepal The week aims to provide important Language instructions, safety tips, and cultural knowledge before volunteers start their work. Volunteers would also be give a 2 day tour around Kathmandu to see the beautiful sights it has to offer.

(Unless you join the language & culture orientation week in Nepal which starts 1st and 3rd Monday of every month throughout the year, followed by volunteer program of your choice in Nepal.)
